The King’s College London Charity Diwali Show is one of the largest and most prestigious annual student shows in the UK. Every year they raise funds to support the cause of selected charities. The KCL Charity Diwali Show is supporting us as a charity partner for the second year running. Here is a guest blog from King’s College Diwali Show Committee Secretary, Vanisha Amin, where she gives a brief background to the show and the reasons why they have chosen to partner with us.
“The King’s College London Charity Diwali show has been running for over 23 years, and each year the show plays host to an audience of over 1,500 at various theatres all over London. Previous theatres have included The Royal Albert Hall and The Royal Festival Hall. Leading up to the show and after, we host many events promoting the show, which are attended by over 4,000 students.
Our purpose, and the reason it was set up all those years ago, is to provide students with the opportunity to raise awareness and fundraise for incredible charities by doing something that they love.
This year, we have chosen Educate for Life as one of our charities. Most of our participants are university students who have chosen to pursue higher education because they have the opportunity to do so. However, we know how fortunate we are to have this opportunity – many young children around the world do not even get the chance to go to school but this is a privilege that we take for granted. We have decided to support Educate for Life this year because we know that education can change a child’s life and we want to help make a difference to as many children as possible.
This year, our show will be held on Sunday 27th November 2016 at the Aldwych Theatre in London’s West End. There will be a range of acts, varying from traditional Indian dance, such as Garba, Bollywood and Bhangra to more fusion acts, including street, hip hop and contemporary, as well a Catwalk and Musical performances. You can buy tickets online and help us create more awareness and raise more money for Educate for Life. 100% of our profits will go towards our charities.”
We are extremely grateful to King’s College London Charity Diwali Show for supporting us as charity partner for the second consecutive year. The funds raised by the Show will support our work and transform the lives of some of the most marginalised children in India by enabling them to access quality education and reliable healthcare.
