I am Renuka Bhati, and I have recently joined the very enthusiastic and inspiring team at Educate for Life as Fund Raising and Communications Manager, India. Hunar Ghar set in a picturesque location in Aravalli hills is a unique school for children from a marginalized Adivasi community. It is not just a school; it also caters to the health needs, holistic development and education of the community in and around Bakhel panchayat. The inaccessibility and the challenging environment has not deterred the team at Hunar Ghar, and it is their indomitable spirit that has had me hooked.
I started my career as a software engineer in Accenture and actively participated in their volunteering program. This introduced me to the impact segment. Since then, I have worked with YUVAM, a grass-roots organization in Madhya Pradesh as a counselor/trainer for graduates in rural areas, as an independent consultant for Leonard Cheshire Disability Trust and most recently as research associate in the business development team at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. The impact segment is close to my heart and I am happy to associate with Educate for Life which is making a huge difference in the lives of children at Bakhel over the past 10 years.
In the role of F&CM I’ll be focussed on sharing the impact that Hunar Ghar has achieved with Bakhel community and how the children now have hope and role models to look up to. In India, over 7 million children have no access to quality education or a good school. One small step at a time, Hunar Ghar has changed that; it is a school in a remote location with limited resources and still has achieved quality education. Education can change lives and in long term, our team will be focused on building processes which can be implemented by other schools with limited resources to achieve better learning for children and teacher training for the educators.
I see the journey forward as exciting as well as challenging. Educate for Life is revolutionizing the impact segment by introducing novel ideas for learning and has generated measurable impact within a small time-frame. As Educate for Life builds a larger movement on education, I hope I can contribute to reaching more children with world-class education.
