Why, you may be wondering, don’t Tina and Deepi get a page each? Well it’s pretty much because they live and breath as one! They aren’t sisters, but might as well be. Hardly ever seen not wearing matching saris, it’s just as rare not to find them giggling about some secret.

They are our super Hunar Ghar chefs, whipping up a hot lunch every day for our 140 kids. Their fathers used to do the job, but the girls have been with us for about 3 years now, and show no sign of stopping.

It’s easy to overlook non teaching or coordinating staff, but we really try to create more opportunities for the Tina and Deepi too. They are in charge of the kitchen and running the purchasing, for which we give them training and support in learning new skills. We’ve also tried to expand the range of food they can cook (so it is even more healthy for the kids) by sending them for training with appropriate people, and are always on the look out for ideas that will be interesting for them and good for their, and the school’s, development.
