Bhuriya is the Hunar Ghar ‘caretaker’, for want of a better word. He is responsible for coordinating all construction work and labour, maintaining our infrastructure, and purchasing the necessary wood, bamboo and whatever else we need.

He was the first local person to become involved with Hunar Ghar. He is a fairly superstitious believing our arrival in the village more to do with God’s Will than chance, and that working at Hunar Ghar is a service to God, but whatever his beliefs he has done a great deal at the school over the years.

He’s also a great friend, and he looked after Ed and Rob when they first moved to Bakhel to build the school, and then later a myriad of other people. He’s a unique guy with, most of the time, a very strong positive attitude. Sometimes his attitude can be a little too positive; he’ll fore-go quality for impressions sometimes ( we once had to knock a whole room down he built it so badly!) but if it wasn’t for him them certainly Hunar Ghar wouldn’t be possible.
