Most of our work is based at the level of the community we work with. We run a school and support broader village development work. We also use our experiences to advocate for a better type of schooling beyond the walls of Hunar Ghar.
This is an integral part of our work; advocacy for broader change based on legitimate community-based experiences. In a very real sense, we’re ‘thinking global and acting local’. There are different ways in which this advocacy takes place:
- Sharing information about our methods, successes and the challenges we face through the website.
- Encouraging visits to Hunar Ghar for a first hand experience of how schools can be innovative.
- Public presentations in the UK and India, to encourage genuine thought and conversation about the parlous state of primary education in rural India and understanding of scaleable opportunities for change.
