The end point of education isn’t to be educated, but what people can do with that education, the capacity that it brings. We see the right kinds of schools as necessary in enabling a better kind of development, one where communities are the creators of their own futures. But schools are just one part of the process of empowering communities and need to be part of an integrated approach to development.
As an organisation based within the community and working directly with it, we’re well placed to use our presence to complement education at Hunar Ghar with broader development projects. As such, we’re teaming up with others to work on community women’s groups, run farming workshops, begin community forestry and sapling distribution, and provide health camps.
Over time we hope to do even more, using the school as a hub, and our presence and voice to support holistic village development.
