Schools. What amazing, fantastic things. Let's build them everywhere, pump loads of money in, build hundreds each year, educating thousands of children, mass-producing them to make education available to as many children as possible.
No, let's not. Let's start off by building one, ensuring that it is totally fantastic. Then we'll consider a second and with great caution we'll proceed to make them more widely available, because we know that we are having massive infuence on the children and the local community, and that should be done with great respect.
To us the number of schools and the number of children in them isn't the be all and end all. Neither are literacy rates, reading ages or percentages of A-grades. We focus on quality and creating a safe environment where the children can free express themselves. What is better, a child with straight A's but cannot think for themelves or one who's never taken an exam but is a good, responsible and hard-working person who is happy in themselves and with their success. Schools aren't about
For us schools are really just a forum through which we can help people out. Building these schools is easy, but making them really great takes a little more time and care and that's what we've set out to do.
The basic model on which our schools are based has been laid out, and now thanks to the help of some great people and a little effort our first school is underway. So it's time to see if plans and ideas can be transformed into reality on a human level, one well-loved school at a time. It's going to be tough, but we're determined.
